AND NOW, A WORD
FROM THE BLIND PIG

The Blind Pig in Ann Arbor is a lot like a zillion other clubs; it's a cluttered rectangular space with a stage, a bar and a persistent aroma of spilled domestic beer. It holds a special place in my heart, though, because I played about 327 gigs there when I lived in Ann Arbor back in the late '80s and early '90s, squalling into a Shure SM-58 in front of a buncha bands you never heard of. I rented a room in a dilapidated house about 75 yards away at First and William, which had carpeting in the kitchen. Ah, youth. But I digress.

Another thing the Pig has in common with venues in towns all over America is that it's fucking closed and you can't fucking go there and see a fucking band because of fucking COVID and fucking Trump's fucking non-response because he's too busy fucking tweeting.

These venues matter a lot. For all their beer stink and intermittently terrible sound, they have been my happy place for most of my life. So it's heartening to see the place in this amazing Biden/Harris campaign ad, which features a rare sync from the Beastie Boys. Check it out, and if you'd like to end the sabotage of our lives and have leadership that wants to restore normal, rockin' life, perhaps consider voting, donating and volunteering. And tip your fucking wait staff; we'll be here all fucking night. Is this thing on?
