The socials were abuzz over Justin Bieber's SNL performance of two recently released songs. The RBMG/Def Jam superstar first appeared on the Issa Rae-hosted episode with Chance the Rapper to sing "Holy." But it was the second cut, the freshly dropped Benny Blanco collab "Lonely," that has earned the most chatter.
Starting by singing into a dressing-room mirror, Bieber then strode down the 30 Rock hallway and onto the stage, unfurling the ballad, a sober (in all senses) self-assessment that showcases every aspect of his voice. Check both performances below.
"Lonely" and "Holy" sat at #1 and #3 on the iTunes Singles Chart, respectively, after the show; both are currently Top 10 on Spotify's U.S. chart. "Holy" is Top 10 on the Spot's global chart while "Lonely" is Top 15. At Apple Music, "Holy" is Top 20 and "Lonely" is Top 25.
