Two songs from 21 Savage and Metro Boomin’s collaboration are getting thumbs wagging, as they ascend the Shazam USA Top 100. But it’s a pop classic from the mid-80s leading the list of greatest movers.
Nu Shooz’s “I Can’t Wait” (Rhino), released in 1986, is the week’s biggest mover. Its latest sync is in Netflix’s Work It; the song has been used in everything from Hot Tub Time Machine to The Big Sick to Entourage. A rendition of the song performed by barking dogs is a current TV spot for Betfair Casino.
21 Savage & Metro Boomin are represented on the greatest gainers list by ”Runnin’” and “Mr. Right Now” (Boominati/Republic/Slaughter Gang/Epic)while new singles from Warner’s Dua Lipa, “Levitating” f/DaBaby, and RCA’s Chris Brown, “Say You Love Me” with Young Thug, round out the Top 5.
Biceps’ “Apricots,” an electronic track featuring samples of traditional Malawian singers and the Bulgarian State Radio & Television Female Vocal Choir, is the biggest mover in the U.K.
