Pandora has invited artists and thought leaders to create playlists to amplify black voices. Under the title of Wake Up!, the series launches with collections created by Kiana Ledé, Tank and the Bangas, Ester Dean, Mike Epps, and others.
R&B singer-songwriter Ledé has crowned 2020 as the "year of traumatic events, but also a year that has brought a lot of clarity and change," and created a soundtrack to match.
Dean chose tracks that have had a big impact on her life and career, specifically ones that have "motivated her growth as a successful black woman in America."
Tank and the Bangas chose tracks that "tugged on them from a spiritual place." Epps has selected tracks that highlight how "comedy is a great bridge for music," putting together a list of his "all-time favorites."
Actress/singer Tichina Arnold shares the Mary J. Blige track that spoke to her as a young actress, Actor and comedian Deon Cole opts for some Philly soul, and Novi Brown selected "songs that make me feel good, feel excellent, feel black, and feel like a queen."
