We've told you in the past about singer/songwriter and Hamilton alumna Ari Afsar and her musical-in-progress, JEANNETTE, but here's a refresher: It's the story of the first woman elected to the U.S. Congress, Jeannette Rankin, told with some seriously compelling songs. (Celebrated playwright Lauren M. Gunderson co-authored the play.)
Afsar, who will be joining cultural luminaries like Jane Fonda and Misty Copeland for a Dance Lab New York/Supermajority virtual event on 10/2 (details at the link and below), will drop the JEANNETTE album via Sony Masterworks on 10/16. For those who can't wait, she has unleashed another single from the show, "Who Are You," which you can check out right here.
The DLNY/Supermajority event is a Get Out the Vote virtual fundraiser that will feature performances from Afsar and DLNY-choreographed dancers of material from the show and inspired by Rankin's life; it'll be hosted by Copeland with appearances from Fonda and Supermajority co-founder/progressive giant Cecile Richards.
