21, METRO ANNOUNCE SAVAGE MODE II

Grammy winning rapper 21 Savage and hitmaking producer Metro Boomin have reunited for their highly anticipated sequel, Savage Mode II. The album drops Friday, via Epic, and should be a contender for a #1 bow.

The duo dropped a trailer for the project, narrated by Morgan Freeman and directed by Gibson Howard.

The album follows 21 Savage's chart-topping album, I Am>I Was, which debuted at #1 at the end of 2018 with 131k units. The album spawned the 3x platinum hit f/J. Cole, "A Lot," which won the 2020 Grammy for Best Rap Song.

Following the release of the music video for "A Lot," Savage was detained by ICE and endured a highly publicized battle with the U.S. immigration department. He was eventually released after a big campaign by Black Lives Matter and a group of powerful attorneys and civil rights advocates.

Metro Boomin most recently produced a handful of tracks on The Weeknd's latest album, After Hours, including the #1 lead single, "Heartless."
