UPDATE: Fox Entertainment has announced a new anthology drama series in development, Icon. The first season will be based on country legends, mother/daughter duo Naomi and Wynnona Judd.
The Judds will executive produce the series alongside Gail Berman, Jason Owen and Hend Baghdady. A writer to pen the story is still being sought. This marks the second high-profile country music series in development from Fox, Owen, Berman and Baghdady.
Fox Entertainment has opened a writer's room for its untitled Country Music Dynasty series, from writer/producer Melissa London Hilfers and executive produced by Sandbox Entertainment's Jason Owen, Gail Berman and Hend Baghdady. The decision on the project is a recalibration of the network's approach to development, leaving traditional pilot season and moving to a year-round development cycle.
The untitled Country Music series would be the first live-action scripted series owned by Fox. The re-commitment is all but a green light for the project, heading toward a potential straight-to-series order in the 2021-22 season.
