A SWIFT EASTER EGG HUNT

Republic’s Taylor Swift is giving fans quite a treat as the 10-time Grammy winner has teamed up with Vevo to reveal the Easter eggs in her latest music video, “cardigan,” from folklore.

The new episode of Vevo Footnotes features broken down behind-the-scenes details from Swift’s self-directed video. The four and a half-minute clip reveals Easter eggs like a photo of her grandfather Dean, who’s also featured in her song “epiphany,” her favorite number 13 represented by the clock’s hands, a painting of a white horse that Swift did herself during quarantine and more.

“I was inspired by the feeling of isolation and how that can be either freeing or terrifying,” shares Swift, who also did her own make-up, hair and wardrobe styling for the music video. In addition to video surprises, Folklore is embedded with Easter eggs in its lyrics, which are interlaced into character arcs and recurring themes across the songs.

Naturalistic scenes are also explained as Swift notes that the forest represents "the evergreen beginning of a relationship where everything seems magical and full of beauty," and the ocean signifies the "isolation and fear involved while a relationship is breaking down."
