MORGAN DROPS A "SUMMER" SMASH (UPDATE)

UPDATE: Apple Music has confirmed that Wallen's "7 Summers" earned the most first-day streams ever for a country song (8/14) on the platform.

Morgan Wallen's hot streak is about to go nuclear. The Big Loud hitmaker has another smash on his hands with his brand new single, "7 Summers." It reached new peaks for a country song at Apple Music and Spotify, debuting at #3 on both platforms.

Wallen's new track arrives with the most consistent stamp of approval signifying a smash these days: it's already viral at TikTok. Early in quarantine, Wallen leaked a snippet of "7 Summers" on his Instagram for fans. Since then, the audio clip moved over to TikTok, where #7summers has racked up over 24m pre-release views.

By the end of its proper release day, Wallen's "7 Summers" hit #1 at iTunes and, more significantly, #3 at Apple Music—entering new territory for a country song on Apple's all genre streaming chart. It debuted on Spotify's U.S. chart at #3 with 2.2m streams, trailing only Cardi B and Drake. Both DSP positions are new peaks for a country debut.

Upon arrival of the new hit, Wallen said, "Social media played a huge part in me releasing this song, especially this early. It’s a cool thing—me being on the fence about it, then being able to put it out and get people’s feedback. Seeing the response played the biggest part in this release. I think that speaks to just how much fans mean to me and fans mean to music. I’m glad I’m getting to put it out and glad people are loving it, I can’t wait for y’all to hear the full version."
