Sam Fender performed to a crowd of 2,500 socially distanced fans Tuesday in Newcastle. With no cars in sight, groups of five or fewer were able to view the live concert from their sanctioned pens.
Held at the Virgin Money Unity Arena in Gosforth Park—billed as the "UK's first dedicated socially distanced music venue" according to their website—the gig was sold out with 500 separate pens set up on individually raised platforms. Fender will return to the same venue for another show today. Food and drink orders placed from each pod were delivered to guests during the show.
The show was produced by Virgin Money and SSD Concerts. Shows at Gosforth Park usually have a capacity of 40k.
