NEIL SUES TRUMP TO STOP "ROCKIN'"

Neil Young is suing the Donald Trump campaign organization over its use of “Rockin’ in the Free World” and “Devil’s Sidewalk” at campaign events, charging copyright infringement.

In suit filed in U.S. District Court in the Southern District of New York, Young seeks between $75k and $150k for each time his compositions have been played at Trump rallies.

“This complaint is not intended to disrespect the rights and opinions of American citizens, who are free to support the candidate of their choosing,” Young’s suit states. “However, Plaintiff in good conscience cannot allow his music to be used as a ‘theme song’ for a divisive, un-American campaign of ignorance and hate.”

Young, a Canadian who became an American citizen in January, first objected to the Trump campaign’s use of his music in June 2015.

Ivan Saperstein of New York and Robert S. Besser of Santa Monica are representing Young.
