In our latest Noisemakers roundup, we present a fresh batch of rising professionals from different parts of the biz whose dedication and effort make their superiors look good. The sample pack of industry folk showcased below can use this feature—along with $33—for a celebratory SUGARFISH bento box.
Chayce Cheatham
Label Partnerships, TikTok
After landing a job at HITCO following a chance encounter with L.A. Reid at Coachella and helping SAINt JHN’s platinum-certified “Roses” rise to #1 four years after its release, Cheatham now finds herself managing relationships between TikTok and the labels. In her current gig, the Spelman College alum oversees content strategies, marketing opportunities, ongoing analysis of song performance and more, and we’re guessing it’s only a matter of time before Chayce—who previously lived and worked in Shenzhen, China—goes viral. Meanwhile, we need interns to show us how to use the app.
Dana Biondi
Partner at G59 Records + Manager at Gr6y Management
Cracking 2 billion streams in the U.S. is an astronomical number for any act, let alone an underground DIY rap duo. The $uicideboy$’s cult fanbase never ceases to amaze Biondi; on top of massive streams, they had a big turnout for G59’s inaugural Grey Day Tour, headlined by the Boy$. Dana and team have signed new acts like Shakewell, Ramirez, Germ and Night Lovell to their roster, and are currently working on releases for the remainder of 2020. Always on the cutting edge, the Boy$ and Biondi have big plans for when touring resumes next year.
Jackie Winkler
Director, A&R, Island
Getting her start at the WBR lodge in Burbank, Winkler was fortunate enough to be mentored by legendary record man Lenny Waronker. She inked Andra Day as an assistant after watching her perform at Genghis Cohen. Now, at Island, she’s got an Olivia O’Brien project in the queue, along with new music from PUBLIC, Bishop Briggs, BANNERS and upcoming acts Johan Lenox and Poutyface. In another world, Jackie would be a professional poker player, where her A&R instincts would likely be beneficial. She’s a gambler.
Taylor Flynn
VP, Digital Marketing and A&R, Photo Finish Records
When Photo Finish took SHAED’s “Trampoline” to #1, Flynn points out, it was their embrace of the influencer community that helped make the track viral on TikTok, with 1.5m user creations. Being early in digital technology is what they’re all about. Taylor, who’s excited about label artist Elliot Lee, says they’ll be supporting her brand with high-end content alongside immersive experiences like building Snap and Instagram AR lenses to promote new music. Flynn got her start as an intern with PFR when she was 18—she’s well-versed in Warped Tour and 3oh3.
