GO-GO’S DOC HITTING SHOWTIME FRIDAY

We’re hearing great things about the feature-length documentary on The Go-Go’s, premiering this Friday, 7/31, on Showtime. The self-titled rock doc, which was screened at Sundance early this year, was directed by Alison Ellwood (History of the Eagles), whose Laurel Canyon is viewable on demand at Epix.

According to the pre-release, the film considers “the group’s place in music history as it focuses on their roots as a formidable contender in L.A.’s late ’70s punk scene, detailing their rise to the top as they become one of the decade’s most beloved acts as well as an unstoppable force.”

Hopefully, the film will help The Go-Go’s get the credit they truly deserve for being the most succesful all-female rock band in history, and the first to play write their own hits—including “Our Lips Are Sealed,” “We Got the Beat” and “Vacation.”

In conjunction with the premiere, the band will release their first new track in 19 years, “Club Zero,” on Friday.
