Prince’s 1987 double LP Sign O’ The Times will receive the super deluxe treatment in September with 63 previously unreleased tracks and a previously unreleased two-hour-plus concert video from the Prince Estate and Warner Records.
Coming out 9/25 will be an eight CD+DVD/13LP+DVD Super Deluxe Edition; a Deluxe Edition of either three CDs or four LPs; and the two-CD/two-LP remastered album.
The Super Deluxe Edition includes 45 previously unissued studio songs recorded between May 1979 and July 1987, and a complete live audio performance from the 6/20/87 stop on the Sign O’ The Times Tour at Stadium Galgenwaard in Utrecht, The Netherlands.
The DVD is the complete New Year’s Eve benefit concert at Paisley Park on 12/31/87 that includes a collaboration with Miles Davis. The Super Deluxe Edition set also features a 120-page hardcover book; Dave Chappelle and Lenny Kravitz are among the liner notes contributors.
As a companion collector piece, Third Man Pressing is manufacturing a numbered 7” singles boxed set, strictly limited to 1,987 units. The set includes remastered audio for all four official 7” singles released in 1987, the two official Warner Records promo singles, and two versions of the previously unreleased track “Witness 4 The Prosecution”. The set is available to order now. “Witness 4 The Prosecution (Version 1)” is now available on all digital download and streaming platforms.
Recording after the dissolution of his band The Revolution, the songs were slated for the ultimately abandoned albums Dream Factory, Camille, and Crystal Ball.
