Live Nation is getting into the drive-in concert game in the U.K. in 12 venues this summer. The Streets, Kaiser Chiefs, Ash, Brand New Heavies, Gary Numan and Lightning Seeds are among the acts performing in the series that starts in July.
Each venue in the Utilita Live From The Drive-In series will have a capacity of approximately 300 cars per show with up to seven people in a vehicle. The promoter is promising full state of the art sound systems, lighting rig and high-definition LED screens.
Venues will open across the U.K. at the end of July until September 2020 and in line with government guidance. The Streets, for example will play all 12 venues, beginning 7/28 in Leeds; Numan’s dozen-date trek starts 8/20 in Lincoln.
Showtimes will vary depending on the artist and productions. Some performances will run twice on the same day.
While the London site has yet to be confirmed, among the 12 sites across the U.K. are Birmingham’s Resorts World Arena, the Leeds East Airport and the Lincolnshire Showground in Lincoln.
While it's a bit on the nose, it would be a thrill to sit in your car and hear Gary Numan sing "Cars." It also sounds like the perfect tour for a reunion of Traffic.
