COCKLE DEPARTS VIRGIN EMI

Ted Cockle, President of Virgin EMI, who built the label into one of Universal Music’s largest in the U.K. thanks to the success of artists such as Lewis Capaldi, has exited the company. Music Business Worldwide broke the news.

Cockle has run Virgin EMI since 2013, building a roster that includes Capaldi, Bastille and Emeli Sandé. He has been with UMG for 15 years, joining in 2005 to run Island Records U.K. with that label's current U.S. President Darcus Beese.
