BILLIE BOLDLY TAKES ON BODY SHAMING

Billie Eilish has posted a short film that was originally produced for and seen on her tour that was suspended in March due to COVID-19. “Not My Responsibility” has been viewed more than 3.6m times in its first 24 hours online.

In the spoken word piece about body shaming, Eilish opens by asking “do you know me? really know me?”

She goes on to say “though you’ve never seen my body, you still judge it and judge me for it. Why? we make assumptions about people based on their size/we decide who they are/we decide what they’re worth if I wear more, if I wear less/who decides what that makes me? What that means?”

It’s a powerful piece.
