KENNY CHESNEY’S NO SHOES REEFS CONTINUES EFFORTS
5/18/20

Blue Chair/Warner Music Nashville’s Kenny Chesney is showing his dedication to maintain healthier oceans with No Shoes Reefs. Founded by the country star, the ocean conservation organization first partnered with the Building Conservation Trust in 2015 to create artificial reefs in places where degradation undermined healthy ones.

Working with Coastal Conservation Association, Chesney and CCA President Pat Murray have seen their efforts pay off. “The fish were back. The reefs were healthy, and the water was becoming what it was originally meant to be,” shared Chesney, whose Songs for the Saints was created to give back to St. John following natural disasters.

Since then, Chesney’s continued his ongoing effort for the health of the ocean by targeting local waters, focusing on single reefs at the community level and bringing in more partners. As part of NSR’s initiative, Chesney has also partnered with Deep, SiliPint and the Reef Ball Foundation to prevent erosion while creating and preserving oceanic ecosystems in 2020.

The “Here and Now” singer adds, “All of our partners are committed to raising awareness of the importance of protecting our oceans, especially the reefs. Whether it’s making a donation or buying a shirt that’s made from plastic bottles from Deep, or a cup made from silicone, which is basically sand, from Silipint, you’re reducing the plastics thrown in the ocean and helping create stronger, healthier designed reefs.”
