U.K. CHARTS: DUA RETURNS TO #1
Despite Hayley Williams and Ariana Grande & Justin Bieber sitting atop the U.K.’s Official Albums and Singles midweek charts, Dua Lipa and DaBaby have claimed the top spots instead.
Lipa's Future Nostalgia (Warner Records) has returned to #1 on albums, claiming a fourth non-consecutive week at the top. The record hasn't left the Top 5 since its release seven weeks ago and it’s the first female artist album to claim more than three weeks at #1 in three years; Little Mix's Glory Days was the last, in 2017.
Meanwhile, Lewis Capaldi's Divinely Uninspired to a Hellish Extent (Virgin EMI) rebounds to #2 from #3, and last week's #1, Dark Lane Demo Tapes (Island) by Drake, slips to #3.
Two new entries complete this week's Top 5: Williams’ debut solo album, Petals For Amor (Atlantic) enters at #4, and the D-Day Darlings are at #5 with a re-release of their 2018 album, I'll Remember You (Sony Music CG).
Kehlani scores a personal best with her latest album, It Was Good Until It Wasn’t (Atlantic), new at #10. Further down, Canadian rapper Nav’s third studio album, Good Intentions (UMG) lands at #18.
Vera Lynn's greatest hits album, 100 (Decca), re-enters at #30 following last week's commemoration of the 75th anniversary of VE day. At 103 years old, she is the oldest artist ever to score a Top 40 on the Official Albums Chart.
On the singles chart, DaBaby secures his first #1 with “Rockstar”(Polydor) shifting nearly 45k sales this week thanks in part to the addition of Roddy Ricch to the track and a viral dance challenge on TikTok. It climbed five places to reach the summit, knocking Drake’s “Toosie Slide” to #2.
6ix9ine claims a Top 10 debut with “Gooba” (Create Music Group) at #6, while “If The World Was Ending” (Sony) by JP Saxe f/Julia Michaels continues to climb, reaching a new peak at #14.
Further down, rising singer-songwriter Sam Fischer climbs four to land his first Top 20 single with “This City” (RCA) at #20, and 220 Kid & Gracey’s “Don’t Need Love” (Polydor) jumps six to #22.
