504LIFE BENEFIT TO RAISE PPE FUNDS

A group of Louisiana natives has teamed up to organize the online benefit 504LIFE, to raise funds for personal protective equipment to be distributed to New Orleans-area essential workers. The livestream telethon includes a lineup of celebrity guests and performers like Nicole Kidman, DJ Mannie Fresh, Big Freedia, Harry Shearer, Ivan Neville, Irma Thomas and Walter Isaacson, among others, and takes place on Saturday (4/11) from 2pm-10pm CT on Twitch.

The Foundation for Louisiana will serve as the benefit’s non-profit fiscal sponsor. In addition, former Commander of the Katrina Joint Task Force, Lt. General Russell Honoré, will be advising the team and will be one of the hosts during the livestream.

504LIFE producers include founding team members of Twitch, various producers and artists as well as the New Orlean natives behind NOISE.World and Sofa King Fest, which raised $150k directly for musicians in its first 2 weeks and StreamAid, which raised over $2.7m for the WHO COVID-19 Solidarity Fund powered by the United Nations Foundation.

All proceeds from the fundraiser will help purchase and deliver essentials like N95 masks, surgical masks, gowns, gloves and sanitization products to local hospitals and clinics. You can stream 504LIFE here.
