John Prine clearly has a lot of fans needing to hear and own his music since his passing on Tuesday: Seven of his albums are in the Top 10 at iTunes.
The 1971 self-titled debut album from Prine, who died Tuesday at the age of 73, sits at #1 while his latest record, The Tree of Forgiveness from 2018, is #2. Sweet Revenge, The Missing Years, In Spite of Ourselves, Bruised Orange and the compilation Prime Prine are also in the Top 10.
Another seven Prine titles sit between #11 and #25. The CD of The Tree of Forgiveness s #1 at Amazon followed by For Better, Or Worse at #3.
At iTunes songs, his 1999 track “In Spite of Ourselves,” a duet with Bonnie Raitt on his “Angel From Montgomery,” and his recent “When I Get to Heaven” are Top 5.
The classics “Paradise” and “Hello In There,” the original of “Angel From Montgomery” and “That’s the Way the World Goes Round” are in the Top 20.
