SOUNDCLOUD MAKING IT RAIN FOR CREATORS

In an email sent recently to its creator community, SoundCloud CEO Kerry Trainor announced four new initiatives to help artists mitigate the financial impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. Effective 3/20, SoundCloud has published their Keep the Music Going Guide, which features daily updates to the best resources for artists to support their career and well-being.

Now through 3/30, SoundCloud is offering a 50% discount on their premium creator subscription plan, Pro Unlimited. Beginning the week of 3/23, the SoundCloud team will go live to host real-time discussions, AMAs and workshops aimed at career development. Details will be announced directly to creatives as well as through SoundCloud’s social media accounts (@SoundCloud).

Finally, SoundCloud has partnered with Twitch to fast-track SoundCloud Pro, SoundCloud Premier and Repost by SoundCloud creators directly to Twitch Affiliate status, so they can access affiliate level monetization. This is an enormous benefit to any new entrants to Twitch considering affiliate status normally requires that a creator amass at least 50 followers over the last 30 days, have at least 500 total minutes broadcast, seven unique broadcast days, and an average of three or more concurrent viewers.

With artists of all stripes making moves into livestreaming, the ability to access affiliate-level monetization right out of the gate will be a welcome benefit to SoundCloud’s creators. “At a time when artists are facing unprecedented challenges, we’re looking for new and creative ways to support our creator community,” says Jeff Ponchick, VP, Head of Repost. “We’re continuing to develop resources to encourage creators to keep growing their careers, deepen their digital connection with fans, and continue earning. As part of this mission, we’re excited to partner with Twitch and work more with them to help creators find new avenues for interacting with fans and generating revenue during this time.”

Now, if you’ll excuse us, we have to head over to the “meeting couch.”
