YUNGBLUD wasted no time reinventing his concert experience following the cancellation of his tour. Along with a special livestreamed concert from The Beehive LA, the U.K. alt hero created a truly digital connection with fans.
With the assist from UMG corporate's Celine Joshua, the Interscope digital team was able to turn around this special streaming event in under 48 hours. Beyond the concert performance with a full band, YUNGBLUD created makeshift tickets for fans, encouraged virtual mosh pits and even interacted with fans "camped outside their bedrooms" waiting for the show. There's also special "event" merch in the works.
The hour long show featured special guests Machine Gun Kelly, Bella Thorne and Oliver Tree and skits in between songs during the set. The concert had professional video and concert-replicating audio, including inserted audience roars and applause. The video had 41k fans watching at the same time, as viewers chatted throughout the experience.
In what is likely the first among many virtual concerts in the upcoming weeks, kudos to YUNGBLUD, his team and the UMG team for getting creative and maintaining the artist-fan connection during this time of isolation.
