In one of the first major content moves to be made in the current isolation climate, Disney has decided to release Frozen 2 ahead of schedule. Streamers will be able to watch the blockbuster sequel from the comfort of their own home starting Sunday, 3/15, via Disney+.
The early release is three months ahead of schedule and could be the first domino to fall as content platforms react to social distancing. Referring to the uneasy period the world is dealing with at the moment with COVID-19, Disney hopes to bring "some fun and joy" to families at home.
"Frozen 2 has captivated audiences around the world through its powerful themes of perseverance and the importance of family, messages that are incredibly relevant during this time, and we are pleased to be able to share this heartwarming story early with our Disney+ subscribers to enjoy at home on any device," Disney CEO Bob Chapek said in a statement.
