SELF-QUARANTINE LIFESTYLE (UPDATED)

Just because we're gonna be stuck at home doesn't mean we can't enjoy ourselves. Here are some shows and other things we've been enjoying (and will be bingeing) during our preemptive confinement. We'll be updating this list; please send in your suggestions.

Narcos: Mexico (Netflix): Season two of the Mexico saga, following the cat-and-mouse game between drug lord Felix Gallardo and the DEA (with other cats and mice liberally added to the mix), is riveting and formally brilliant.

Hunters (Amazon): A highly polarizing, kaleidoscopic, dizzyingly twisty pulp drama about Nazi hunters in ‘70s New York that’s equal parts Tarantino-esque fever dream, Spielbergian Holocaust saga, Boys From Brazil-style thriller and absurdist media satire. Al Pacino leads a stellar cast. Some in our number consider it way over the top (and offensive), but others found it surprisingly resonant. Your mileage may vary.

Devs (Fx On Hulu): Nick Offerman plays the mad-genius founder/head of a mysterious Silicon Valley tech company in this eerie, visually stunning new sci-fi series masterfully written and directed by Eric Garland (Ex Machina, Annihilation).

The Outsider (HBO): Richard Price’s shrewdly scripted, beautifully realized adaptation of a Stephen King novel steeps its very creepy supernatural tale in stark realism. Cynthia Erivo is a standout, but the whole cast is superb. An unsettling ride.

Self Made (Netflix): Octavia Spencer portrays Madame C.J. Walker, our country’s first black self-made female millionaire, who made her fortune in turn-of-the-century America via hair-care products—despite racism and other obstacles. Spencer is always brilliant, and the excellent cast also includes Tiffany Haddish, Carmen Ejogo and Blair Underwood.

DAVE (FX): Lil Dicky's show could be described as a Curb Your Enthusiasm for rappers, and is considerably more amusing than we might've anticipated.

Masterclass (Subscription series): learn skills, arts and lessons directly from the experts that have inspired and influenced the world. Whether it's storytelling from Ron Howard, recipes from Gordon Ramsay or guitar from Carlos Santana, dive into hundreds of lessons and stories of successes and failures from the pros.

Don’t Fuck With Cats (Netflix): An incredibly well done open-source true-crime saga, but with very graphic and disturbing depictions of animal abuse; watch at your own risk.

The Imagineering Story (Disney Plus) Disneyland may be closing, but this absorbing six-part doc on the technicians behind the parks is an all-access pass.

Marc Maron: End Times Fun (Netflix): The comic takes our tumultuous times head on in his latest live special, and his vision of Mike Pence at the apocalypse is filthy but priceless.
