In an effort to alleviate attendee concerns, SXSW on 3/2 posted an update regarding coronavirus on the org's site.
The update, headlined "COVID-19 ATTENDEE INFORMATION," explains that, "At this time, no health departments in the state [of Texas] have requested the cancellation of any gatherings, as the current risk of person-to-person spread in their jurisdictions remains low," adding that "there are no imminent plans to postpone any current events."
The update goes on to describe event-preparedness plans, notes thet there have been just a handful of cancellations from participants who were traveling from countries such as China and Japan, and acknowledges the festival's awareness of the recent Change.org petition.
A story on Pollstar.com today reiterates that, for now, it's full steam ahead for SXSW.
