BTS: MAP TO #1

Global icons BTS crashed the HITS Top 50 (and our website), with Map of the Soul : 7 (Big Hit/Columbia). The album debuted at #1 with 411k units, giving the K-Pop stars the biggest bow of the year and the largest first-week tally of their career. It’s BTS’ fourth consecutive #1 album in the U.S. and follows their 2019 chart-topper, Map of the Soul: Persona.

Anchored by a strong D2C, MOTS7 moved a whopping 340k albums in pure sales. BTS’ new LP, combined with Harry Styles’ Fine Line, now gives Columbia the two biggest first weeks since Post Malone’s Hollywood’s Bleeding dropped last September.

Justin Bieber’s Changes (RBMG/Def Jam) slides to #3, while Ozzy Osbourne’s Ordinary Man (Epic) earns the second-biggest bow, landing at #5 with 64k.

Making gains on the chart, Trippie Redd leaps to #9 with a deluxe version of A Love Letter to You 4 (10k Projects/Caroline), while Lil Mosey’s Certified Hitmaker (Mogul Vision/Interscope), with streaming hit “Blueberry Faygo” added to the project, re-enters at #39.

Big Loud’s Morgan Wallen sees a boost on his album If I Know Me, which charts at #43. He also has three songs in the top 10 on our Country Streaming chart.

As for marketshare, UMG leads with 41%, SME follows closely with 39% and WMG earns 20%.

Charting this week are projects from QC/Motown/Capitol’s Lil Baby, James Taylor, Five Finger Death Punch, Epic’s G Herbo and 10k’s Surfaces.
