U.K. CHARTS: SOUL POWER

BTS have claimed the fastest-selling album in the U.K. of 2020 as Map of the Soul: 7 (Big Hit) hits the top of the Official Albums Chart on 38k combined sales. Over on singles, The Weeknd’s “Blinding Lights” (Island) is back on top.

Map of the Soul: 7 is the second #1 for BTS in Blighty following Map of the Soul: Persona last year. They overtake Eminem’s Music to Be Murdered By (Polydor), which previously had the year’s biggest debut week with just over 36k sales. More than 32k of BTS’ opening figure came from physical and downloads.

Ozzy Osbourne has his highest-charting album as a solo artist with Ordinary Man (Sony) at #3, beating the #7 peak he reached in 1980 with his solo debut, Blizzard of Oz.

Stormzy’s Heavy is the Head (Atlantic/Merky) rises two places to #5 following its release on vinyl, while Grimes earns her first Top 10 with Miss Anthropocene (4AD) at #10. Man Alive (XL) by King Krule charts at #12.

On the U.K.’s Official Singles Chart, The Weeknd reclaims the top spot for a third non-consecutive week as “Blinding Lights” rises one place. He also has this week’s highest new entry with “After Hours” at #20.

Elsewhere in the Top 10, Saint Jhn’s “Roses” (Ministry of Sound) lifts three places to a new peak at #4, and Joel Corry bags his second Top 10 hit with “Lonely” (Atlantic) up six places to #8.

Justin Bieber f/Quavo’s “Intentions” (Virgin EMI) climbs one place to a new high at #9, and Harry Styles’ “Adore You” (Columbia) rebounds three spots to #10.

Style’s latest single, “Falling,” which he performed at last week’s BRITs, makes its Top 40 debut, zooming up 12 places to #29.
