PUMA LAUNCHES COLLABS WITH DEF JAM AND CHUCK D

PUMA and Def Jam announced their partnership and debut shoe back in summer 2019. Now PUMA has introduced their collab with Public Enemy, during NBA All-Star weekend in Chicago.

In celebration, Def Jam and PUMA will host a conversation with Chuck D of Public Enemy, Def Jam artists Jadakiss and Dave East, and New York hoop icon God Shammgod.

Moderated by sneakerhead and journalist Russ Bengtson, the Def Talks X Public Enemy panel will take place this weekend at the League Fits Lounge Powered by PUMA Hoops. The panel will explore how the cultures of hip-hop and sneakers became interlaced.

Accordingly, PUMA has introduced fresh takes on two styles: the classic Clyde along with the newly relaunched Sky LX. Both were on-court basketball sneakers back in the day, when Def Jam’s artists were known to rock PUMAs on stage and in the studio.

30 years after Public Enemy dropped its third album Fear of a Black Planet in 1990, new iterations of the two classic PUMA shoes acknowledge the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame group’s continuing influence.

Chuck D’s “Fight the Power” verse adorns the side of the PUMA x Public Enemy Sky LX, while the PUMA x Public Enemy Clyde has “Fear Of A Black Planet” stamped on the outsole. Meanwhile, the PUMA x Def Jam Sky LX and PUMA x Def Jam Clyde feature throwback vibes, including a Def Jam logo on the tongue.

The two designs in the PUMA x Public Enemy collection will be available this spring. Both collections will be available in limited release at PUMA's pop-up during All-Star Weekend in Chicago. The two designs in the PUMA x Def Jam collection are available in stores and online here.
