Republic Records has appointed Damion Presson SVP of Artist Relations, it was announced 2/14 by EVP/GM Jim Roppo. Presson will spearhead innovative opportunities for superstars and emerging artists across all genres.
Regarding the hire, Roppo commented, “For years, we’ve watched Damion from the sidelines as he architected culture-defining moments by uniting artists with Reebok. His addition to our team places Republic in a position to amplify the influence of our roster far beyond music.”
Presson added, “Republic is providing a groundbreaking platform for its artists to make an impact outside of traditional channels, and they’ve entrusted me with the latitude to really innovate. I’m looking forward to this chapter alongside their incredible team.”
Prior to joining the Republic team, Presson spent 17 years at Reebok where he held the title of Director, Global Entertainment Marketing since 2013. During his tenure, he orchestrated alliances with Kendrick Lamar, Future, Cardi B, Travis Scott, Swizz Beatz, Alicia Keys, Tyga, Gucci Mane, Cam’Ron and more. Other experience includes work with NBA greats such as Allen Iverson. His father, Ron Tyson, is part of legendary group The Temptations, and his brother Ryan Press is President of A&R U.S. at Warner Chappell.
Presson will be based in the label’s New York headquarters, roughly 2 hours north of he and his brother's hometown of Philly.
