Spotify has announced in a Spotify for Artists blog post the beta launch of Songwriter Pages, a new way for fans, collaborators and industry partners to dive deeper into the creators behind their favorite songs.
The Spotify Publishing and Songwriters Team has described this new feature as a way for songwriters to share the songs they’ve written on Spotify, and get discovered by potential collaborators and fans.
Since they began publicly displaying song credits in 2018, Spotify has seen a 60% increase in how often labels and distributors credit songwriters on their new releases. With the launch of Songwriter Pages, Spotify seeks to continue to evolve how music is discovered and appreciated.
Labels, publishers, music supervisors, and artists will now be able to scour Spotify song credits, and when songwriters are credited on a track, listeners can then click that writer's name to view a page showcasing the songs they’ve written.
If a songwriter is included in the beta, their page will feature a list of the songs they’ve written and their most frequent artist collaborators. That songwriter can then share a link on social media or their website, whether they’re a Spotify user or not.
Each songwriter page will feature a new “Written By” playlist of that songwriter's songs. Spotify listeners can discover these playlists via search, and follow them as well. For the debut of Songwriter Pages, Spotify will be featuring these “Written By” playlists on the home tab for all Spotify listeners.
As part of this launch, Spotify is debuting songwriter pages for Meghan Trainor, Fraser T Smith, Missy Elliott, Teddy Geiger, Ben Billions, Justin Tranter and others. In beta, these pages are enabled by publishers and Spotify in partnership with the songwriters.
“It’s so cool that Spotify is working hard to find ways to promote and give credit to songwriters," Trainor said. "Having a platform that appreciates and celebrates the songwriting community is exciting and important."

How to access Songwriter Pages:
Since this feature is still in beta, only a limited number of songwriters have pages and “Written By” playlists at launch on 2/12, with more to follow in the near future.
“Spotify is always working to create new and better ways to promote music discovery -- for artists, for songs and, increasingly, for songwriters,” said Spotify Head of Publishing & Songwriter Relations Jules Parker. “Together with the publishing industry, we’ve continued to evolve our data sharing and analytics efforts, and are proud to unveil this next iteration.”
Songwriter Teddy Geiger added: "Growing up, I looked at the back of my favorite albums to see who was involved in making them - from writers and producers to the engineers and instrumentalists. Those credits inspired me to explore making music, and it’s great to see Spotify supporting the work that we all do behind the scenes.”
Songwriter Fraser T. Smith said: “It’s amazing to be part of the ‘Written By’ playlists, and to be able to share the songs that I’ve written and produced over the years. Spotify is giving a creative platform to the global songwriting community.”
