U.K. MIDWEEKS: GREEN DAY FATHERS A #1

Green Day’s 13th studio album, Father Of All… (Reprise), is on its way to becoming the trio’s fourth U.K. #1 album. At singles, The Weeknd’s “Blinding Lights” (XO/Republic) is heading for a second week at #1.

Father Of All… racked up the most physical and download sales across the weekend and has a lead of nearly 14,000 chart sales on the Official Albums Chart. Green Day last hit #1 with Revolution Radio in 2016.

Four other titles are looking at Top 10 debuts. Oh Wonder’s third studio album No One Else Can Wear Your Crown (Island) is #4; Earache’s Those Damn Crows could grab their first Top 40 placement with their second album, Point Of No Return, at #6. Bryan Ferry is eyeing his first Top 10 album in 13 years as Live At The Royal Albert Hall 1974 (BMG) is #7. One slot lower is La Roux’s third album, Supervision (Supercoulour).

The Cadillac Three’s Country Fuzz (BMLG) is #13, one slot ahead of A Pilgrim’s Tale (Absolute) from Seth Lakeman and Rod Stewart’s former #1, You’re In My Heart (Warner), is #15 following its release on vinyl.

At singles, The Pussycat Dolls’ “React” (Access) is the highest new entry of the week, #15, and if it holds, would be the group’s first chart single in more than a decade. Justin Bieber f/Quavo’s “Intentions” (Def Jam) is the second highest new entry of the week at #16.
