Elton John won his second Academy Award, Hildur Guðnadóttir became the first female composer to win the original score Oscar in more than two decades and the Korean film Parasite became the first foreign film to win Best Picture at the 92nd annual Academy Awards.
John, who won in 1995 for “Can You Feel the Love Tonight” from Lion King, and lyricist Bernie Taupin won for “(I'm Gonna) Love Me Again” from Rocketman. “This doesn’t suck,” Taupin said, noting it’s “justification for 53 years of hammerin’ it out.”
Guðnadóttir won for her score to Joker, which also received a Golden Globe and a BAFTA.
Parasite’s Bong Joon Ho won the Director and Original Screenplay awards and the pic was named Best International Feature Film.
