U.K. MIDWEEKS: BLOSSOMS SPRING

Mancunian indie pop band Blossoms are on track to land their second #1 on the Official Albums Chart. At singles, The Weeknd is eyeing his first chart-topper in the U.K.

Their third album, Foolish Loving Spaces (Virgin EMI), is outpacing the debut album from Louis Tomlinson, Walls (SYCO), by 8,000 chart sales. Foolish Loving Spaces is tops in CD and vinyl sales.

Blossoms’ self-titled debut topped the Official Albums Chart in August 2016, while follow-up Cool Like You peaked at #4 in May 2018. Last week’s chart-topper, Big Conspiracy (Black Butter) by J Hus, has dropped to #5.

Other new arrivals include Liam Gallagher’s Acoustic Sessions EP (Warner) at #12, which is the most downloaded release of the past three days; Marc Almond’s 24th studio album Chaos and a Dancing Star (BMG) at #13; and Drive-By TruckersThe Unraveling at #14.

New albums from Meghan Trainor, Squarepusher, Kesha and Smoke Fairies are looking at Top 30 debuts on Friday.

The Weeknd’s “Blinding Lights” (XO/Republic) is on course to claim #1 on the Official Singles Chart. His previous best was #2, which “Starboy” hit in 2016.

Dua Lipa’s “Physical” (Warner) is currently #11 and is likely to be the chart’s highest new entry on Friday. “Wake Up Call” (BMG) from YouTube star KSI f/Trippie Redd opens at #16.
