GRAMMY VIEWERSHIP TAKES A DIP

The 62nd annual Grammy Awards on CBS averaged 18.7m viewers. Per Nielsen, more than 38.4m viewers watched all or part of the CBS broadcast.

The telecast delivered the largest primetime entertainment audience during the current 2019-2020 season.

The telecast scored a 5.4 rating in adults 18-49, which is down 3%. Last year, 19.9m viewers tuned in making this viewership 6% lower.

The share rating—which measures the percentage of TVs in use tuned to a specific program—was up. The telecast hit a 21 share this year compared to 19 in 2019.

In addition, the Grammys were held earlier this year and did not have the same on-air promo heft. Last year’s telecast was held 2/10, a week after the Super Bowl, which CBS aired, giving the network added time for promotional efforts.
