Taylor Swift will be honored at the upcoming GLAAD Media Awards, where she will be presented with the Vanguard Award, which celebrates allies of the LGBTQ community.
The singer-songwriter last year took an outspoken stance in favor of the Equality Act, writing an open letter to Tennessee Senator Lamar Alexander. Tay also referenced GLAAD in the lyrics of her song “You Need to Calm Down,” in which she sang, “Why are you mad, when you could be GLAAD?”
Last year’s Vanguard Award recipients were Beyoncé and JAY-Z. The 31st GLAAD Media Awards will take place at the Beverly Hilton in Los Angeles on 4/16.
