Justin Bieber and Sam Hunt have dropped new singles on the first flipover Friday of 2020 while, out of nowhere, CNN becomes a driver of album sales.
Bieber’s treat for the new year, “Yummy” (Def Jam), quickly shot to #1 at iTunes and is already Top 40 at Apple Music. Hunt’s “Sinning With You” (MCA Nashville) is #21 at iTunes.
There are no new albums in the upper reaches of the charts, but three Linda Ronstadt titles have made their way into the Top 20 following CNN’s New Year’s Day airing of the doc Linda Ronstadt: The Sound of My Voice. Rhino’s 2015 Greatest Hits package is #4; her 1974 gem Heart Like a Wheel (Capitol) is #11; and Rhino’s 30 track-career overview Just One Look is #17.
