WOMEN AND THE BIZ, TWO YEARS AFTER "STEP UP"

It's been almost two years since we put the faces of more than 200 women on the cover of our print edition and published this sober assessment of gender inequality, harassment, systemic sexism and other ills afflicting the biz—and contemplated the way forward. We closed the article with this thought: "Is change happening quickly enough? Certainly not. But it is underway. We are witnessing the dawning of a movement that’s long overdue."

That movement has produced extraordinary changes in the last two years, and now the industry is at last seeing the report on diversity created by Tina Tchen for the Recording Academy (see related stories below). That report assessed not only changes to be made in Grammyland to address inequities and injustice, but also what the industry must do overall.

There is still enormous work to be done, but change is most certainly underway.
