Tyler, The Creator, Flume and Illenium will headline the ninth edition of the BUKU Music + Art Project festival in New Orleans in March.
The two-day festival, presented by AEG Presents’ Winter Circle Productions, takes 3/20-21 across five stages on the Mardi Gras World grounds. The fest supports Upbeat Academy Foundation, a non-profit organization providing New Orleans youth with opportunities to study hip-hop and dance music production. A portion of ticket proceeds benefit the local arts initiative.
Upbeat Academy student-artists will perform in a showcase at the fest that will feature local talent such as Bouffant Bouffant, Treety, Mhadi G, Malik Ninety Five, Raise the Death Toll and Edgar Allan Po’ Boy. (Admit it, that’s the greatest New Orleans hip-hop name you’ve ever heard).
BUKU also has a real-time Live Graffiti Gallery featuring local painters, industrial art installations, local cuisine and “pop-up” street-style performances. Tickets go on sale Friday.
