U.K. CHARTS: ROBBIE TIES ELVIS

Robbie Williams has topped the U.K.’s Official Albums Chart with The Christmas Present (Columbia) on 53k combined sales. In doing so, he equals a record held by Elvis as the solo act with the most #1s in U.K. chart history.

Williams now has 13 #1 albums under his belt as a solo artist, and 17 including his releases with Take That. Elvis has 13, while the overall record is held by The Beatles with 15.

Rod Stewart’s You’re In My Heart (Rhino) moves up one place to #2, while Coldplay’s Everyday Life (Parlophone) moves down to #3.

Michael Bublé’s Christmas (Reprise), first released in 2011, leaps seven places to #7, returning to the Top 10 for an eighth year.

Cliff Richard & The Shadows are new at #11 with The Best of Rock ‘n’ Roll Pioneers (Rhino); Chilled Classics (UMC) by Pete Tong, The Heritage Orchestra & Jules Buckley enters at #20; and Christmas With the Stars (Sony) by the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra lands just behind at #21.

On the U.K.’s Official Singles Chart, Tones & I’s “Dance Monkey” (Parlophone) spends a 10th week at #1 with 75k combined sales (including 9.39m streams). That matches another chart record as the longest running chart-topper by a female artist, sharing the accolade with Whitney Houston's “I Will Always Love You” from 1992, and Rihanna's “Umbrella” from 2007.

The track isn’t just a viral streaming phenomenon either: For 10 weeks on the trot, no other single has been downloaded or streamed more times in the U.K. than “Dance Monkey.”

Can it hold on for another two weeks to claim the Christmas #1? Or is Taylor Swift now in with a chance with “Christmas Tree Farm” (Virgin EMI), which sits at the top of the iTunes chart today?

Arizona Zervas breaks the Top 5 with “Roxanne” (Columbia) rising two slots to #5, and Mariah Carey sleighs her way back into the Top 10 as festive favourite “All I Want For Christmas Is You” (Sony) zooms 26 places to #8.

The Weeknd scores two new entries with “Heartless” (Island) rocketing 54 places to #10, and “Blinding Lights” goes straight in at #12.

Ellie Goulding’s cover of Joni Mitchell's “River” (Polydor) leaps 43 places to enter the Top 40 at #14, and Trevor Daniel makes his U.K. chart debut with “Falling” (Alamo) rising six spots to #40.
