BILLIE DOC HEADED TO APPLE TV+: REPORT

A documentary on Billie Eilish and her breakthrough year is reportedly heading to Apple TV+ with a hefty price tag attached.

Apple’s new streaming service is reportedly paying $25m for the rights to the doc directed by R.J. Cutler and produced in collaboration with Interscope Films, according to The Hollywood Reporter. HITS has confirmed that Apple is in talks with Interscope Films but no deal is signed yet.

The budget for the film was less than $2m, according to the Reporter’s source.

Contrary to overblown headlines around the Internet, the money goes to the various rights holders involved with the film and is not an eight-figure payday for Eilish.

Apple has been on a Billie binge this week, naming her Global Artist of the Year at the inaugural Apple Music Awards in Cuppertino where she played a 75-minute show that was streamed globally. Her Darkroom/Interscope Records album WHEN WE FALL ASLEEP, WHERE DO WE GO? was named Apple Music Global Top Streamed Album of 2019.

Will the film be ready in time for Sundance? Stay tuned.
