WILL REI AMI BE THE NEXT ACT TO POP?

Independent act REI AMI is gaining steam as the next candidate to pop on DSPs. Her just-released track, "Dictator," received top placement (#5) on Spotify's coveted New Music Friday—a position usually reserved for big acts and major-label priorities.

With only three tracks to her name, it's easy to hear why Spotify has decided to upgrade the new act to premiere playlists. "Dictator" attacks you immediately, a la Billie Eilish's "bad guy" outro, then transitions to a vibey R&B cut a minute and a half in.

Our sources say labels are already chasing the South Korea-born, Maryland-raised Ami. How long will this take to climb charts and lock down a deal? Stay tuned.
