At last night’s Queen & Slim premiere afterparty, Ethiopia Habtemariam—aka Queen of Motown, who put out the soundtrack—director Melina Matsoukas and writer Lena Waithe posed for this pic. Later they kicked some ass and took some names, while their utter coolness caused us to quiver like frightened baby mice.
The film's 16-song soundtrack brings together a strong group of black artists representing a wide array of genres. On it, you'll find Ms. Lauryn Hill, Lil Baby, Vince Staples f/6lack X Mereba, Megan Thee Stallion & VickeeLo, Tiana Major 9 & EARTHGANG, Coast Contra f/BJ The Chicago Kid and Syd, along with classic songs by Roy Ayers, Bilal and Mike Jones. Blood Orange composed the film's score and is featured on the ST.
Tiana Major9 & EARTHGANG's "Collide" has garnered more than worldwide 3m streams. It was #1 Most Added at Urban AC radio, and has topped Spotify's The Newness playlist. It also appeared on major R&B playlists at Apple Music, Pandora (Top R&B Hits), YouTube Music and Amazon.
