MUSEUM CELEBRATES ISLAND'S 60TH

Island Records founder Chris Blackwell and current Island President Darcus Beese will discuss the label’s 60th anniversary year at the Grammy Museum on 11/23.

The museum’s first Executive Director, Bob Santelli, will moderate and Jessie Reyez will perform.

The label’s origins in Jamaica and London in 1959 will be discussed along with its rise as one of the most iconic and respected labels in the industry, everything from Bob Marley and Cat Stevens to U2, Amy Winehouse and beyond.

Meanwhile, in New York, #Island60 is being celebrated with an installation at Dolby SoHo, that showcases the label history and cultural impact over the last six decades.
