TV "LOVER"

Taylor Swift performed two selections from her blockbuster Republic set Lover on 10/5's installment of Saturday Night Live, starting with an intimate, piano-only rendering of the title song. The setting was also noteworthy, as she was surrounded by a cascade of sheet music—some of which appeared to be suspended in midair.

Later in the show (which was hosted by brilliant Emmy magnet Phoebe Waller-Bridge) she returned for an almost R&B-ish "False God," accompanied by sax mainstay Lenny Pickett and two backup singers.

"Lover" is Top 10 on the iTunes singles chart as of this writing, while the album is Top 5.

Earlier in the week, as noted in the related story below, Swift teased the SNL appearance on Fallon; that visit also saw a memorably mortifying clip (supplied by Tay's mom) of some loopy moments post-eye surgery.
