WHAT'S SCOOTER'S
NEXT MOVE? (UPDATE)

UPDATE: Braun just announced a new deal with 740 Project. The independent marketing company, label and publisher has partnered with Ithaca Holdings. 740 founders are Jesse "Punch" Edwards, Rahim Wright and Charley Greenberg; their clients include Migos, Lil Baby, H.E.R., Lil Uzi Vert, Young Thug, Bryson Tiller and Trippie Redd, among others.

Buzzers are buzzing about what might be Scooter Braun’s next big purchase.

The speculation follows Braun's $300m deal, announced in June, bringing Scott Borchetta’s Big Machine into the Ithaca Holdings fold—including Borchetta’s Big Machine Music pub division—as well as his earlier acquisition of Richard Stumpf’s Atlas pubco (which just launched a JV with Quincy Jones’ pubbery). With minority stakeholder Carlyle Group’s recent cash infusion, Ithaca is now said to be valued at north of $800m.

It’s also noteworthy that Scooter’s Raised in Space tech-investment initiative, announced around the time of the Atlas deal, features ex-BMG pub exec Zach Katz as a primary player.

Is there a larger publishing play in the works? Could Scooter be pondering the acquisition of a hot L.A.-based indie company?
