SONGS OF HOPE:
A CURE FOR WHAT AILS YA

This year's City of Hope Songs of Hope confab at Alex Da Kid's KidInaKorner compound in Sherman Oaks once again broke fundraising records supporting COH's work in combating cancer and other dread diseases. A throng of well-dressed music luminaries turned up to hoist cocktails, schmooze and get behind the cause.

The Beverly & Ben Horowitz Songs of Hope Legacy Award went to Dr. Linda Malkas. Facebook was presenting sponsor, which may be why Mark Zuckerberg tried to get us to listen to his demo of trap songs.

UMPG boss Jody Gerson, She Is the Music recipient Tierra Whack and UMPG Prez North America/event luminary Evan Lamberg were glad that we no longer have offices in Sherman Oaks.

Sony/ATV boss Jon Platt presented Snoop Dogg with the Social Leadership Award. Later, Snoop and Legend in Songwriting honoree Diane Warren were given a lifetime achievement award by the World Cannabis Association.

The legendary Clive Davis presented the Legend in Songwriting trophy to writer/producer Boi-1da. A documentary about this photo op will soon debut on Netflix.

Warner Chappell A&R chief Ryan Press presents The-Dream with the Warner Chappell Beacon of Excellence Award. Their hope that our presence in the crowd was just a bad dream turned out, alas, to be unfounded.

Event VIPs David Renzer, Lamberg, Jody Horowitz-Marsh, Zoe Horowitz, Marc Shaiman, Steve Schnur, Zach Horowitz and Doug Davis yearn to appear on a more reputable website than our own. EA's Schnur presented Shaiman with Composer of the Year and told a hilarious tale of their boyhood as musical prodigies.

Hayley Kiyoko, who received the Facebook Songwriter Impact Award, asks Facebook Head of Music Publishing Biz Div N.A. Zeina Grenier if she can share this photo.

Two legends, no waiting: Clive Davis and honoree Diane Warren, who subsequently wrote three Top 10 Pop hits about the dessert platter.

Thanks to the synergy between Snoop, Shaiman and Schnur, there will soon be a video game in which the object is to get baked and sing show tunes.

Legendary producer Jimmy Jam was glad his emcee duties prevented him from being besieged by trade-mag weasels.

The Davis Firm's Doug Davis and Jodie Shihadeh wonder if they could retroactively get us to cease and desist for the last 33 years.

We don't have a photo yet, but Pulse's Josh Abraham and Scott Cutler searched frantically for avocado toast.
