DIME AND THE
“HIT MAN”

The Detroit Institute of Music Education, DIME, has recently started working with iHeartRadio to contribute original music to their new podcast, “Hit Man.” The true-crime podcast released its first episode on 8/15 and follows the story of Motown Records producer Lawrence Horn, who hired a hitman to gain access to his son’s $1.7m trust fund. “Hit Man” currently sits at #4 on Apple’s Podcast chart.

DIME’s Head of Recruitment and Admissions, Elise McCoy, and faculty member, Drew Schultz, have enlisted students from DIME Detroit, DIME Denver, and DIME Online to create a theme song and background music for “Hit Man.” The opportunity comes as a part of the DIME Sessions program, a series that ensures real-world experiences for students.

“When students enroll at DIME, we treat them as if they have already entered the music business, so the DIME Sessions are an extension of that. We are thrilled that along with the albums, videos, and DIME shows, iHeartRadio has now provided this experience for our students,” says Sarah Clayman, DIME Co-Founder and Managing Director.

The students currently involved in penning music for the podcast includes Detroit students George Wilson, Julia Furlong, Julia Shuren, and Charles Laster III, Denver participants Alex Creighton, Cooper Dickerson, and Zane Deluccie, in addition to Online contributors Robert Thompson, Sharne Van Zyl and Christian Barry.
