SPOTIFY APPOINTS MUSIC LEAD IN U.K.

Spotify has promoted Sulinna Ong to the newly created role of Head of Music for the U.K. and Ireland, where she will be leading the artist and label services and music culture and editorial teams.

She joined Spotify in April as Head of Artist & Label Services (U.K. & IE) and then was appointed Acting Head of Music Culture & Editorial (U.K. & IE) following the departure of Austin Daboh (his replacement is still being sought).

"Sulinna joined us three months ago and in that time has shown great leadership, bringing 16 years’ experience pioneering global marketing strategies in the music industry, leading editorial teams as well as directly managing major artists," Tom Connaughton, Spotify’s Managing Director, UK/IE, said.

Ong brings more than 16 years of experience in music and marketing to the role. She spent two-plus years as Deezer's Global VP of Artist Marketing. Prior to that, she worked for Live Nation Artists as Director of International Marketing & Artist Development; at Sony BMG as International Marketing Manager, Artist Development; at music video app Youdio as CMO; and on Kasabian’s management team.
