SONGS OF HOPE UNVEILS HONOREES AND EMCEE (UPDATE)

The 15th annual Songs of Hope—hosted by City of Hope's Music Film and Entertainment Industry Group and presented by Facebook—has been scheduled for 9/19. The event will once again take place at the KidinaKorner Kampus in Sherman Oaks.

This year, the Clive Davis Legend in Songwriting Award will be presented to Boi-1da and Diane Warren. EA's Composer of the Year Award will go to Marc Shaiman. Acclaimed newcomer Tierra Whack will be honored with the UMPG She Is the Music Award. And Linda Malkas, PH.D. will go home with the Songs of Hope Beverly and Ben Horowitz Legacy Award.

Recipients of the Facebook Songwriter Award and the Sony/ATV Music Publishing Songwriter Award have not yet been announced.

The Davis Firm's Doug Davis, UMPG's Evan Lamberg, David Renzer and EA's Steve Schnur continue to serve as co-chairs.

UPDATE: Legendary producer and songwriter Jimmy Jam will serve as emcee for the event. Additional honorees include Hayley Kiyoko receiving the Facebook Songwriter Impact Award and The Dream earning Warner Chappell's Beacon of Excellence Award.

Per usual, attendees can expect an evening of cocktails, snacks, speeches, schmoozing and auction items. And remember: If you spot a HITS employee—particularly one standing near the mini-grilled-cheese tray—stop what you're doing, much like you would when encountering a bear in the wild. Speak in a calm, appeasing tone. Back away slowly, preferably in the direction you came. Walk, don't run, and keep your gaze locked.

There are many ways to support. Individual tickets are priced at $650, while sponsorships range between $5k and $50k. Ads can also be purchased for $1k (half-page color) or $2k (full-page color). Donations of any sum are also being accepted.
